The runner is the member of staff who is constantly on the move around the site. They run last-minute errands, move equipment, help the organising team behind the scenes and sort out problems before anyone notices them. You may also hear the terms event crew or logistics staff. At an event, this is the person you call when something is missing.
At Protéine, these roles go to resourceful, resilient and reliable people who are at ease in the bustle behind the scenes. Since 1996, our teams have worked at more than 25,000 events in Brussels and across Belgium.
All three terms describe the same family of profiles, with slightly different uses. The runner is mainly associated with errands and moving around during the event. Event crew refers more broadly to the on-site team that keeps the venue running, including set-up and breakdown. Logistics staff is the term used on the organiser's side. At Protéine, a single team can cover all three roles depending on the time of day.
Within a few hours, a good runner knows the site inside out: the access points, the storerooms, the green rooms and the shortest route between any two points.
Before opening and after closing, there is often as much work as during the event itself. Our event crew in Brussels can help with set-up and breakdown: installing spaces, putting up signage, distributing equipment, then packing away and clearing the site. Tell us the timings and the type of tasks in your request so we can adapt the profiles and the schedule.
The bigger the site, the more useful runners become. At a festival, they link production, the stages and the partner areas. At a trade show, they keep stands and the welcome desk supplied with badges, brochures and equipment. At a sporting event, they support the organisers between the finish, start and spectator areas. In every case, they are assigned by zone and managed by a coordinator who moves them around as needs arise.
The size of the team depends on the layout of the site and the pace of the event:
Your Protéine coordinator sizes the team with you during the briefing, then sends you a free, no-obligation quote within 24 business hours.
An effective runner is a runner who knows the ground. Before the event, your Protéine coordinator gathers the site plan, the zones, the delivery access points, the set-up and breakdown times and the list of key contacts with you. The team receives this briefing 24 to 48 hours before their shift. On the day, the coordinator assigns the runners by zone, remains reachable at any time and offers you a debrief after the event.
At many events, we combine welcome staff, cloakroom and runners in a single team, managed by one coordinator. The runners keep the welcome desk supplied with badges and materials, and can reinforce other posts at peak times. You keep a single point of contact for all your staff.
A community of more than 1,900 hosts, hostesses and stewards from which we choose versatile and reliable people.
Last-minute reinforcements are possible: our emergency line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Full Belgian compliance: contracts, Dimona declarations and NSSO (ONSS) obligations are all handled by us. Protéine provides event crew in Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia. Allow 5 to 10 working days depending on the size of the event.
